“Live Audience Recording from The Bottom Line in New York City, NY — Early Show on March 1st 1983”

Hey, can I have your autograph?

Lou Reed — Early Show Bottom Line

Black Cat (US) 2xCDR

83/03/01 NYC Bottom Line

“A Night With Lou Reed” Bottom Line Residency

Sweet Jane. I’m Waiting For The Man. Martial Law. Sunday Morning. Sally Can’t Dance. Don’t Talk To Me About Work. Women. Waves Of Fear. Walk On The Wild Side.

Pow Wow. Turn Out The Light. Underneath The Bottle. New Age. Betrayed. Average Guy. Charlie’s Girl. Kill Your Sons. Satellite Of Love.

The band: Lou Reed – guitar, vocals; Robert Quine – guitar; Fernando Saunders – bass; Fred Maher – drums

AUD: B+

NOTES: In 1984 RCA Video Productions released an edited version of the previous night’s Bottom Line show as the “A Night with Lou Reed” home video cassette. This bootleg on the NYC-based Black Cat label documents the early show from the following evening. All shows from the residency are highly recommended, regardless of sound quality.

REVIEW: Dean Benedetti was a saxophone player in awe of fellow saxophonist Charlie Parker. Listened to the discs and caught a few shows but that just wasn’t enough. Used heroin. Everyone in this story uses heroin. Benedetti started lugging along recording equipment to Parker’s residencies. An expensive pursuit, given the technology and lifestyle choices.
