There is an extended feature on the work of Maggie Dunlap in the new R-rated edition of the art magazine Gruppe (issue 6).
AS readers might know Maggie’s work through her contribution to Human Rights (AS#31), and her 2022 exhibition and catalogue True Crime.
For the last three years Maggie and myself have been working on a book together Pure Evil Pure Innocence.
Maggie created a suite of new artworks specifically for the collaboration, and they are accompanied by a 120,000 word commentary.
The book is currently being proofed by Audrey Szasz, and will be published Summer 2025.
Please note the final publication will eschew the high-end design aesthetic of Gruppe in favour of a scratchier, nastier approach. Speed, not cocaine.
I’m extremely proud of the completed text, and believe it represents my very best work. And Maggie Dunlap is quite simply one of the most compelling and searing of artists at work today.
Some pages from the Gruppe feature are reproduced below. Copies of the magazine can be ordered from the Gruppe website.
Ordering details for Pure Evil Pure Innocence will be announced via this Substack in due course.
Again, thank you all for your consideration and kind support.
